Where caffeine fits in your evening
Consider your bedtime and your own response.
Reviewed September 7, 2026 · BedtimePilotLook beyond the last cup
Caffeine is a stimulant and can interfere with sleep. NHLBI notes its effects can last up to eight hours. Tea, energy drinks and some other products can also contain caffeine.
Treat timing as individual
A universal countdown cannot tell you exactly when caffeine stops affecting you. Consider an earlier last serving if you notice difficulty settling down, and avoid treating a calculator as a guarantee.
Keep the routine simple
You can add “prepare an evening drink without caffeine” to your own routine. There is no required drink or ritual to complete.
